Lexicon Intrinsic Fungicide.

Lexicon Intrinsic Fungicide is a very effective turf fungicide. It gives up to 28 days control against a wide range of turf diseases, and also has advanced plant health benefits. These benefits are one of the reasons as turf agronomists we really like this product. It doesn’t just kill turf disease and has a whole host of benefits!
That’s the reason we recommend this fungicide for Disease management for out of season events and especially if the surface is going to be covered.
This fungicide has a dual mode of action, and contains both pyraclostrobin and fluxapyroxad in a 1:2 ratio. Pyraclostrobin is also the active in Insignia fungicide. It can be used in both the professional and homegarden markets for turf disease control.
The actives in Lexicon are in fungicide resistance groups 7 and 11, and so Lexicon Intrinsic is also a perfect rotation option in any resistance management program.

What Turf Professionals Are Saying.
Feedback from turf managers and superintendents across Australia highlights why Lexicon Intrinsic Fungicide has taken the market by storm. Many have noted that it has become a staple in their disease management programs. This is especially in times of high disease pressure or when they are preparing for large sporting events.
Some report that tehy have seen a noticeable improvement in turf recovery after stress periods when they use Lexion Intrinsic. Whether from heavy foot traffic, extreme weather events, or if the playing surface is under cover for any length of time.
According to experienced greenkeepers at several venues, the results are reliable and visually obvious:
- Faster green-up.
- Denser turf, and
- Fewer disease flare-ups.
Others appreciate its convenience. The combination of dual actives means they can rely on one application for both an immediate knockdown and a long-lasting residual. This saves time and reduces the need for further spray rotations.
Several superintendents have also remarked on the peace of mind that comes when they use Lexicon Intrinsic Fungicide. They have confidence that their turf will stay protected and continue to perform, even in demanding conditions.
For these reasons, it remains a highly recommended part of an integrated turf management strategy, whether on golf courses, stadiums, or high-traffic public grounds.
Plant health benefits of Lexicon Intrinsic fungicide.
With its excellent disease control Lexicon also gives proven turf health benefits that include:
- Increases in photosynthesis.
- Strong root growth.
- Improves the ability of turf to cope and recover from stress.
- Improves the rate of couch grass vegetative establishment and sod shelf life.
- Enables turf to deal better with shade.
Most fungicides on the market, give either a quick knockdown or a long term residual. Lexicon Intrinsic does both of these due to containing two highly effective actives.
These are 333g/L pyraclostrobin and 167 g/L effect fluxapyroxad. These are in fungicide Groups 7 and 11 respectively.
Pyraclostrobin is in fungicide Group 11 and is a quinone outside inhibitor-type fungicide. This stops the germination of fungal spores and prevents them from infecting plant tissue. It also has some curative activity as it stops fungal growth and causes it to die.
Fluxapyroxad is in fungicide Group 7 and is a SDHI (succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor). This stops plant respiration at Complex II, and so blocks the growth of fungal cells. Fluxapyroxad works against several diseases but is excellent against dollar spot.
SDHI fungicides are also in Velista Fungicide, Xzemplar, Exteris Stressgard and Posterity.
Lexicon Intrinsic is very rainfast as it binds tightly to the waxy leaf surface. Once it enters the leaf it moves upwards systemically though the xylem to untreated areas.
This redistribution, along with its high level of activity, give long-lasting preventative and curative effects. This results in reliable, more consistent disease control. With the use of spray adjuvants we recommend not using organosiloxane type products with this as it may cause turf grass injury (as per the US label).
Diseases control with Lexicon Intrinsic.
Research in the USA and Australia shows that this fungicide provides excellent control of 27 key cool and warm season turf diseases which include:
- Anthracnose.
- Bentgrass dead spot.
- Couchgrass decline*.
- Brown patch.
- Brown ring patch (previously called ‘Waitea patch’).
- Dollar spot.
- Fairy ring.
- Fusarium patch.
- Gray leaf spot.
- Large patch Brown patch of warm season of turfgrasses, including Zoysia patch.
- Leaf spot Bipolaris, Drechslera, and Exserohilum spp.
- Melting out.
- Necrotic ring spot*.
- Pythium blight.
- Pythium root dysfunction.
- Red thread.
- Rhizoctonia leaf or Sheath spot.
- Rust.
- Spring Dead Spot.
- Summer patch.
- Take-all patch.
- Yellow tuft (Downy mildew).
Lexicon Intrinsic Trials for disease control.
Several trials show that Lexicon Intrinsic fungicide gives excellent control of a variety of diseases. These include brown patch, dollar spot, summer patch and fairy ring.
In a trial on SR7100 colonial bentgrass, Lexicon Intrinsic shows 0% Brown Patch after 21 days. This is in comparison to the untreated control that has an average 70.5% disease incidence.
In a trial on “Baron” Tall Fescue, Lexicon Intrinsic shows 1.8% Summer Patch after 21 days. This compares with 58.2% on the untreated control.
Dollar spot
Lexicon Intrinsic gives both preventive and curative control of Dollar Spot. Whether disease has actively begun to infect, or conditions are right for growth, fluxapyroxad stops further growth when it contacts the fungi.
The numbers in brackets denote the number of rating dates out of 13 when dollar spot lesions were fewer than five. Disease breakthroughs with Interface and Headway occur after 28 days. Applications were made on June 4, July 2 and July 30. Source: Dr. Rick Latin, Purdue University, 2014.
Lexicon Intrinsic for Pythium
BASF trials show that Lexicon gives better control of pythium than azoxystrobin + propiconazole (Headway Maxx label).
Root dysfunction
- Applications with pyraclostrobin provide superior preventative control of pythium root dysfunction in comparison to with azoxystrobin (AzoForce fungicide) and cyazofamid (Segway Fungicide).
- Azoystrobin and cyazofamid provide moderate control of PRD in two of three seasons.
- Propamocarb does not work against pythium root dysfunction.
Pythium Root Rot
- Trials show that preventative control of Pythium root rot is best when you apply cyazofamid once soil temperatures reach 24 ℃. Cyazofamid also performs well as a curative application.
Brown Patch on Bent grass
Spring Dead Spot (SDS)
- Five consecutive years of SDS research suggest that tank- mixtures of a DMI fungicide (especially Maxtima fungicide) with an SDHI fungicide (such as Lexicon Intrinsic, Xzemplar fungicide or Posterity fungicide) are very effective against SDS disease.
-
Results from three consecutive years of SDS fungicide trials on SDS demonstrated synergistic or additive effects of tank-mixing DMI or QoI with SDHI fungicides for enhanced control of Spring dead spot.

Turf quality.
The graph below shows Turf quality readings. The last rating is 28 days after the last application. Applications of Lexicon Intrinsi on a 21-day interval on the 5/13, 6/3 and 6/24. Source: Dr. Bruce Martin, Clemson University, 2014.
In several University trials, Lexicon Intrinsic consistently delivers high turf quality, and outperforms competitive brands. For example, in side-by-side comparisons at the University of Missouri (2014), applications made on a 14-day interval resulted in superior turf quality ratings vs other fungicides.
These results underscore the product’s ability to provide strong residual control, and maintain turf health. Such performance ensures a consistent healthy, playing surface deep into the growing season.
Lexicon Intrinsic for Faster Grow in Times.
The image below shows Lexicon pre treated sprigs on the left, and untreated on the right at Pinehurst Number 7. The sprigs were treated 30 days and 5 days before sprigging. This is something you should seriously consider if you sprig, and have a limited grow in window to establish turf.
2020 work into harvest aids for improved couch sod shelf-life and transplant success. The results show that Lexicon Intrinsic increases the plant health of transplanted sod and improves the speed of establishment of hybrid couch plugs.
Better Root Growth with Lexicon Intrinsic.
One other plant health benefit of Lexicon Intrinsic is it improves root growth on both cool and warm turf species such as bent grass or buffalograss.
Improve Growth in Shade
Research on turf in shade shows that Lexicon Intrinsic improves turf quality.
