Rapid Fire 800SG

Rapid Fire 800SG Herbicide.

Rapid Fire 800SG is a non-selective herbicide containing 800g/kg of the active ingredient glyphosate present in the form of the acid and ammonium salt. As a non selective be aware that if you use this it kills all plants it comes into contact with.

It controls a wide range of perennial and annual weeds in a range of situations that includes general weed control, non-agricultural, brush and woody weed, aquatic and forestry uses.

Rapid Fire 800SG has a very high load of aquatically approved adjuvant within the formulation.

The benefits of Rapid Fire Herbicide:

  • Very high loading of glyphosate – 800g/kg.
  • Patented and unique adjuvant system.
  • A Unique soluble granule formulation of glyphosate.
  • Provides fast burn-out of weeds.
  • Very high load of aquatically approved surfactant.
  • It dissolves easily in cold water and does not foam.
  • Proforce Rapid Fire 800 is highly compatible due to its unique adjuvant system.
  • Easy to use and handle 10kg packaging. No drum disposal fees.
  • Safe for use to the base of established trees and ornamentals, as long as spray drift doesn’t occur onto leaves or green plant tissue.

Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Rapid Fire 800SG, controls weeds by inhibiting the activity of the EPSP enzyme, which is necessary for the formation of the aromatic amino acids within the plant.

These amino acids are important in the synthesis of proteins that link primary and secondary metabolism of nutrients. As a result of the reduced metabolism of nutrient within the plant, food sources required for growth are not available, which results in weed death in 7-14 days.

EPSPs are present in the chloroplast of most plant species, but are not present in animals, providing a high degree of safety to users. Rapid Fire 800SG is classified as a Group 9 herbicide. Glyphosate is highly systemic within the plant. Hence, upon entering the plant’s foliage, glyphosate moves downwards throughout the plant to the root system.

Maximising performance.

  • Once you use this do not disturb weeds by cultivation for 1 day after use for annual weeds, and 7 days after use for perennial weeds.
  • Do not treat weeds that are not growing or in dormant conditions. This includes drought, water logging, disease and insect damage or following frost.
    • In high temperatures (do not spray if temperatures are over 25°C)
    • In low temperatures (do not spray until the day temperature reaches 12°C)
  • You may get poor control if you treat weeds that are heavily covered in dust or silt.
  • Once it comes into contact with the soil it does not work. Plants take up Glyphosate via the foliage, and it then quickly translocates through the plant.
  • Ensure spray tank water doesn’t have high pH, suspended solid content or elevated water hardness levels as this will impact upon performance. Gilba Solutions recomends the use of ProForce Manta Ray for this.
  • When you use Rapid Fire 800SG in waterways, only treat 1⁄2 the water body at a time, to prevent fish kills.

  • When should I apply my lawn pre emergent?

The best time to apply these products is in the early spring as this is before broadleaf weeds begin to grow. For grass weeds like summer grass apply later say in late spring or early summer. This weeds germinate later, so by applying your pre emergent later you will get longer control.
  • What is a turf herbicide?

Turf herbicides, also known as weedkillers are pesticides used to control and manage undesirable plants. It is important that when you use a turf herbicide that you precisely follow the label directions. If you don't do this then the herbicide may fail to control the target weed, damage the turf grass or even prevent you from being able to reseed or re-turf damaged areas. Turf herbicides can be:
    • Selective or non selective. Selective turf herbicides are able to specifically target the weed without damaging the desirable turf grass. Non selective turf herbicides kill everything.
    • Pre emergent or post emergent. Pre emergent turf herbicides prevent weeds from growing and becoming and are used before weeds grow. Post emergent kill weeds after they have emerged.
    • Work against broadleaf weeds or grass weeds.
